I got Rickrolled!!!!

Rickrolling is a prank involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”.  It’s a bait and switch: a person provides a Web link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video.

The URL can be masked in some manner so that the user cannot determine the true source of the link without clicking (and thus satisfying their curiosity). The second a person clicks on the link given and are led to the web page, they are said to have been Rickrolled“.

This has become the new favorite past time of my team at work.  I must have rickrolled about 7 different people yesterday.  My favorite is when people swear that they will never fall for it again and less than 10 minutes later you get them.

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 DVD

I am a big fan of this show. I actually only started watching it from the DVDs in 2007. Seasons 1, 2, & 2.5 provided some of the best and smartest television that I’ve ever experienced.  Season 3 continues that tradition.

Simply put this is the best Sci-Fi show ever written, possibly the best TV show ever. The story continues as the rag tag fleet desperately tries to hide and evade the tricky cylons and discovering that those who were once allies and friends just might not be.

Great story lines and not the typical boring Hollywood writing makes this a terrific show.  The ensemble of complex characters also makes the show great.

I got turned on to BSG about a year ago.  I watched Seasons 1, 2, & 2.5 all within the same week and was immediately hooked.  By the time I finished watching those early Season DVDs, Season 3 had already started airing on the Sci-Fi channel.  I would have to wait until Season 3 was released to catch up.

Now here’s the part that gets me a little cheesed off.  Season 3 wasn’t released on DVD until late March, a full year after the last episode aired.  Season 4 began airing the same week, so if you missed the release date like me, there was no way to catch up on all 20 episodes and start watching Season 4 live.  I wouldn’t really care that much if this series wasn’t so great.

Back to the Season 3 box set, it continues where the last Season left off.  If you’ve watched the first two Seasons of this excellent series, your expectations have probably been set high.  Battlestar Galactica, Season 3 does not disappoint. The first several episodes are arguably the finest of the series, and the Season ends with an amazing cliffhanger that should not be missed.

Season Three is so outstandng that I watched all of the DVDs in a couple of days. I tried pacing myself but couldn’t find the will power to stop watching!  BSG is fracking awesome!

A1 Marinade – New York Steakhouse

Whenever I cook steaks, I usually just season the steak with some of Emeril’s steak rub and then eat it with steak sauce.  I’ve always wanted to try to marinade steaks before grilling.

So last week when Sayra and I went to the grocery store and we decided to grill out that night, it seemed like the perfect time to try one out.

I spent a few minutes looking through all the different types. I eventually decided upon the A1 New York Steakhouse Marinade. This one seemed to be not too spicy, but had noticeable pepper and seasonings in the marinade. It also had a coupon attached to it for 75 cents off.

The directions say to let your steak marinade for at least an hour prior to grilling. What I did was I placed the steaks in a ziploc bag with the marinde and let them sit in the fridge for for about two hours. This way there is a lot less clean up.

I took the steak directly out of the bag onto the grill. I was very nervous that the marinade would drip and I’d get flare ups, but I had no problems at all. I like my steak medium, but Sayra has to have hers well done. To my surprise, I was able to cook her steak to well, but still have it juicy and tender.

The steaks came out perfect. I can not rave enough but this stuff. The flavor was amazing. This had to have been the best steak that I have ever cooked at home. It was so good that later in the week I went back and bought a nice porterhouse that I let marinade for 2 days and had it for dinner earlier tonight.

I may also try the Chicago Steakhouse and New Orleans Cajun A1 marinades, just to mix it up a little. I plan on grilling out a lot this summer and I don’t want to overdo it with the New York.

The Plastic Lawn Chair

I sat behind this guy at a wedding on Saturday night.  He was about 5 minutes away from that chair collapsing.  How awesome would that have been?
