Rickrolling is a prank involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. It’s a bait and switch: a person provides a Web link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video.
The URL can be masked in some manner so that the user cannot determine the true source of the link without clicking (and thus satisfying their curiosity). The second a person clicks on the link given and are led to the web page, they are said to have been “Rickrolled“.
This has become the new favorite past time of my team at work. I must have rickrolled about 7 different people yesterday. My favorite is when people swear that they will never fall for it again and less than 10 minutes later you get them.
