Flower PS3 – Hidden Flower Guide

I recently downloaded a new game off of the PSN called Flower. Flower is an amazing experience that can only be explained by playing it.

Basically you are the wind and you control the flow of a single petal. The main premise of the game is to go around a field replenishing it with color and light. You do this by hitting other flowers and eventually filling the once grey landscape with a beautiful array of blues, greens and reds.

This may sound boring to some of you, but mix together some very calming music and the easy pick up and play sixaxis controls and the game almost becomes relaxing to play.

One of the trophies for the game is to find all of the hidden flowers.  Here’s a quick guide to each one.

Area 1 (Yellow Flower)

1. Collect all the white flowers in the first field. The camera will pan to the hidden flower as it spawns.

2. Collect all the white flowers in the second field, they are in a large circular formation around the edge of the field. The camera will pan again.
3. Behind the rocks at the back of the dead tree.0

Area 2 (Orange Flower)

1. Follow the winding path of red/yellow flowers to spawn the flowers.

2. In the area with the different colored grasses, complete the area and before leaving, circle round to the beginning to see a new branched area, follow to flowers.

3. In the final area, follow the left side of the opening towards the valley top and you’ll encounter the flowers just short of the top.

Area 3 (Dark Pink Flower)

1. Collect all the flowers in the dry shallow areas, the hidden flowers will spawn next to the centre windmill, the camera will pan.

2. In the canyon area with the flOw cave entrance, bare left in that area as approaching the cave and you’ll see the flowers.

3. As you leave the windy canyon to the last windmill field, follow the right wall to the secret.

Area 4 (Blue Flower)

1. After the glowing hay-stacks, look right and see a road that splits into two, with a hay-bale at the end of each, the hidden flower is behind the hay-bale on the left.

2. Approach the overturned wagon and circle it to make the hidden flowers appear.

3. Before completing the final “puzzle”, illuminate the pond closest to it. ( see “Illumination” trophy details above)0

Area 5 (Purple Flower)

1. At the start, turn around and follow up the hill then follow the section that thurns into a valley. The flowers are in the valley.

2. Collect ALL flowers in this area, one of the pylons will fall over and the Hidden Flower will be revealed.

3. Enter the maze area and always take the right path, after each branch, look down and behind you, the flowers are in a little alcove on the floor.

Area 6 (Light Pink Flower)

1. In the second area of sub-section 1, with the playground set, look for the tallest building with the doorway, fly in and up to the top, then look down. Halfway down the building you should see them on the horizontal beam.

2. On the expressway area, slowly follow the road to the point where there id two off ramp, one left (which takes you to sub-section 3) and one right, which takes you down to a secret area where you will find the Hidden Flowers.

3. In the area with the buildings with giant twisted pieces of metal jutting out of them, just before the ending, behind one of the air conditioning units.

Safari 4 Beta Released

Safari has come an awfully long way since its conception, and yesterday  was the beta release of the fourth version of my default web browser.

Version 4 introduces a lot of new features and interface improvements, among them speed enhancements, visual history searching and Cover Flow integration.

Most important to any web browser is speed and this version of Safari claims to be 30x faster that IE 7 and 3x faster than Firefox 3. Apple has a speed comparison with other Mac and Windows browsers over at their new features page.

There are several changes to the interface style. Most obvious is the shift of the browser tabs to appear at the very top of the window, above the bookmarks and address bar.  There is also now a  ”New Tab”  button located at the very top right of the window.

The blue progress background in the address bar that used to appear when loading a new page has disappeared. This has been replaced by a spinner towards the right-hand side.  The spinner changes to a “Stop Loading” icon when moused over, and also functions as a “Refresh Page” button once loading is complete.  I kind of miss the blue bar.  It gave an estimate of how much load progress was made.

Top Sites is a new feature that shows a dynamic grid display of up to 24 of your favorite web sites. These are generated automatically based on your browsing habits.  It auto-generated my top sites the first time it loaded and got most of them correct.

There is an option to pin them, but they still seem to move around as I browse more.  I’ll have to give it some more time and play around with this feature more before making any judgements.

History is now displayed by default in a visual Cover Flow mode. You can flip through them as you’d expect, and click to open. This is very useful if you’re a visual person as it allows you to select the required site based on its look and feel. It feels very similar to browsing your albums in iTunes.

Safari 4 is a great step forwards in terms of usability and function. Some of the interface changes will take a while to become natural, but seem to make more sense in the long term.

For me, the most impressive improvement isn’t the flashy Cover Flow or minor changes in design — it’s the speed. I may use Top Sites from time to time, but I’ll benefit from the faster rendering and page loading time on every site I visit.

Head over to the download page and give Safari 4 a try for yourself. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts!

NFL Fantasy Files

Here’s a cool series of video clips that somebody recently forwarded to me.  It’s from last summer, promoting NFL.com Fantasy Football.

I wonder how many “takes” it took to get some of these clips.

Funny Flash Text-Adventure Game

I discovered an awesome new game during some downtime at the office today called  Don’t Shit Your Pants.

It’s billed as a “survival horror” game, and I’d say that fits.  It’s actually a text-adventure game where all you have to do is type in commands to control the character.  The object is very simple … don’t shit your pants.

It took a few tries, but I finally understood how it works. You need to remove your pants first. This is key.  I managed to figure out how to get all of the different achievements in the game in around 10 minutes.

Have Fun!!! :)

Dialidol – Group 1

While I may not have agreed with the results, it looks like Dial Idol hit the nail right on the head.  I just hope Anoop & Tatiana get chosen for the wild card round.

U.S. Mint Issues 4 New Pennies

Sometimes I think America is stupid and this is one of those times. With inflation the penny is becoming almost useless. Coining more pennies is an absolute mug’s game. They cost 1.4 cents to make and once they are received they are rarely spent.

People take them home and throw them in a jar. I have a huge pretzel jug in my house full of change.

So why are we spending 1.4 cents on something that is only worth 1 cent? I say we get rid of the penny and move all monetary transactions to 5 cent increments. That will also allow more people to say things like, “I got 5 on it.”

Cupcake Day

Remember that episode of The Office where everyone got a free soft pretzel?  At the TD Bank call center, we have something very similar except that instead of pretzels … it’s cupcakes.  The best part is that we do it once every month!!!

Here’s a quick shot of the remains of last friday’s cupcake day. Yum :P

Nothing says “I love you” like a Pepperoni Pizza that looks like it already has a bite taken out of it.

Dollhouse

Friday nights this winter has turned into the best night of TV.  There’s BSG on SCI-Fi & Friday Night Lights on NBC.

Now Fox is throwing 2 more awesome shows into the mix. Terminator: The Sara Conner Chronicles returns @ 8, followed by the new series Dollhouse.

I’m extremely excited about this new series.  It’s from Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and stars Eliza Dushku from Buffy and Tru Calling.

It looks like the premise is that Eliza plays clones that are programmed as sleeper assasains.

I’m very excited to see a new Sci-Fi series coming to network TV.  My only reservation is that the networks are very quick to cancel series like this if they don’t start off strong.

Terminator has been on the chopping block since the begining.  I don’t want to get too into the show, only to have it pulled after only a few episodes.
