Baltimore Ravens Draft Michael Oher

So the Ravens didn’t get a big name receiver like Darius Heyward-Bey or Jeremy Macklin. Tackle may not be an exciting position, but if the Ravens can plug him in to replace J.O., then they got the biggest steal of the draft.

Plus after watching the video below about Michael Oher’s story, you can’t help but cheer for the guy.

Madden 10 Cover Athletes

This year’s Madden game will feature two athletes, Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu, for the first time ever. My curious question of course is if they each made as much money from the deal as Brett Farve did last year.

Also, does two people mean double the curse? Nothing would make me happier than to see the curse bite Polamalu right in the ass. I almost wish the entire Steelers team was on the cover

Madden 10 releases August 14, 2009.

Drop 7

After hearing some positive feedback on Giant Bomb about Drop 7, I was quickly tempted to make it my next purchase on my visit to the App Store yesterday.

Drop 7 boasts a challenging and exciting new method of gameplay unlike any other puzzle game I had previously come across.

Drop numbered discs into the grid. Whenever the number on a disc matches the amount of discs in its row or column it disappears. Keep the board open to keep scoring, and survive as long as you can. Clear the board or set off huge chains for big bonus points.

What I love most about this game is that you really have to stop and think, but in a fun and original way. The developers describe Drop 7 as “Tetris meets Sodoku” which is a perfect analogy.

Drop 7 is a fun, addictive and not to mention original puzzle game on my favorite portable games console. I would highly recommend it to anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch.

Assassin’s Creed II Trailer

Despite all the recent back-and-forth speculation and rumor-mongering about Assassin’s Creed II, the game’s maker Ubisoft hasn’t chimed in with any official comment–until today.

An Ubi rep sent out a press release confirming the game’s existence and holiday 2009 release window.

This trailer kind of makes me feel like I’m on Spaceship Earth. I enjoyed playing the original game (despite the disappointing ending) and I’m really looking forward to the sequel.

The Italian Renaissance seems like an interesting setting. I just hope we also get to play some levels in the current day setting as well.

Britain’s Got Talent 2009 – Susan Boyle

Can your dreams come true? Susan Boyle is proof they can. 47 and undiscovered, are you kidding me?

I cannot stop watching this video! Astonishing…There is something about the innocence of this woman…the drama of the moment…the raw talent undiscovered…the humility…all she wanted to do is sing in front of a large audience.

This is a good lesson for everyone to never judge a book by its cover.

Tweetstats

Ever wonder what your tweeting statistics are? Well, this appropriately named site, tweetstats will give you just that. From your average number of daily tweets to even your preferred method of tweeting… and all you have to do is just enter your user name!

How many tweets do you average daily? I’m a 1.9 a day twitterer!

Another cool thing is that you can click the tweet cloud option and see what words you use most frequently in your tweets. If you don’t like the colors of their tag cloud, you can click over to wordle, it’ll transfer your words and you can make it prettier!

In tweet cloud tab, it also lets you know how many twooshes you had. (Yeah, a twoosh.. really, who comes up with these words?!??) A twoosh is a 140-character tweet and I’ve had none of them. Interesting.

Mask from TapouT … RIP

I was just watching some WEC on Versus and I noticed this graphic on one of the fighter’s signs. WTF??

I jumped right on the computer and seconds later discovered some horrible news. Tapout founder Charles “Mask” Lewis died in a car crash on March 10, 2009. He was 45 years old.

Mask – along with friends Dan “Punkass” Caldwell and Skyskrape – was the driving force behind the popular mixed martial arts clothing company. Tapout began with an inventory of t-shirts sold out of the trunk of a car.

Under his guidance, the company steadily grew from $29,000 in sales in 1999 to $25 million by 2007 to a projected $100 million in 2008, according to The Press-Enterprise.

Even though I haven’t seen the show in quite a while, I was a big fan of TapouT. Mask was always such a positive force on the show. He would always preach a message of love and in always believing in yourself. He will definitely be missed.

Comcast to drop NFL Network

If you’re a Comcast subscribers, there’s a very good chance you’re going to lose the NFL Network on April 30st.

Two years ago, Comcast removed the NFL Network from their Basic Digital tier and put it on a more expensive Sports tier. For customers like myself, who didn’t want to lose the network, this move meant having to buy this package even though I only wanted one station and now having an even higher cable bill each month.

The NFL Network’s contract with Comcast is up on April 30th. The NFL has been trying to negotiate a new deal that puts their network back on the Basic Digital tier, but Comcast isn’t interested.

Comcast says it’s unfair to force people to pay for a channel that they might not want. The NFL says that Comcast has no problem forcing people to pay for Versus, the Golf Channel, and the MLB Network (all channels that they own a part of) and are essentially playing favorites.

The NFL isn’t blameless here. They screwed millions of fans out of NFL games by switching some of the better regular season games to a network with limited coverage simply because they owned it.

But I really, really hate Comcast.

I mean, I really hate Comcast.

In my mind, it goes Big Oil, AIG, the sub-prime mortgage companies, then Comcast.

I fully support the NFL in their battle to take down Comcast. I check the availability of Verizon FIOS in my area every week, and I encourage everyone else to do so as well.

Flashmob: The Sound of Music

I’ve always enjoyed these large improv-style performances and this one might be my favorite. It starts out with one guy and by the end there are probably 200 people dancing.

I’m pretty sure I was smiling the whole time, thinking of how I would feel if I was there. Some of the spectators have huge smiles on their faces and it’s hard not to do the same thing! That techno Do-Ray-Me was a nice touch.

Manchester United’s Jersey Deal

Last week I was going to make a pick for the ESPN Streak for the Cash. One of the games was an international soccer game, so I did a little research by going to a soccer website.

While at the site I noticed an article about the Manchester United. The accompanying picture blew my mind.

England’s premiere “football” team is sponsored by AIG!!! Not only that but the Manchester United will still get $28 million more before their contract ends in May 2010.

It is unacceptable for US taxpayer money to go to support an English soccer club. Since the US taxpayers now own 80 percent of AIG we should have the shirts changed to say “United States United” or even USA.

Along that same note, the Met’s new ballpark should also have it’s name changed from Citi Field to Bailout Field.
